The Formula Regional Europe has unveiled its calendar for the 2027 season, which includes a total of ten races, with the addition of two new circuits: Algarve and Silverstone, as well as an event that will support the Hungarian Grand Prix.

This year, the championship will return to its traditional format of two races per weekend, after experimenting with a third reverse-grid race at four events during the 2026 season. Except for the support event in Hungary, all races will maintain the usual format that includes free practice on Friday, qualifying sessions, and races on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Algarve circuit, located near Portimao, will open the season from April 9 to April 11. The second round will take place at the Red Bull Ring two weeks later, continuing the return to the traditional FREC calendar.

For the first time, the championship will arrive in the United Kingdom from May 14 to May 16 at Silverstone, which will also host the Euroformula Open. Coinciding with this event, Silverstone will feature a race from the FIA European Karting Championship, although on a separate layout from the main circuit.

Races four and five will take place at traditional circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps from June 18 to June 20 and at Paul Ricard from July 16 to July 18. The Belgian competition will form part of the SRO SpeedWeek, while the French event will be framed within the International GT Open.

After these two races, the competition will move to Hungary over the weekend of July 30 to August 1, marking a highlight of the season, where FREC will again be present at the support event of F1, following its last appearance in Monaco in 2022.

Another classic circuit such as Zandvoort will host the seventh round between August 6 and August 8. Moreover, teams and drivers will travel to Imola and Monza in September, pleased to avoid scheduling conflicts with the dates of the Italian GP.

The season will conclude in Barcelona on October 8 and 10, marking the return of the championship to one of its most iconic venues, with the support of the International GT Open.

The president of the FIA Single-Seater Commission, Emanuele Pirro, has positively evaluated the new calendar: “The success of the inaugural season of FIA FREC has established a solid foundation for 2027. The expansion to ten races is a response to the requests from teams; the new weekend format and the spacing between events reflect the feedback gathered from drivers, teams, and partners.”

Pirro highlighted the addition of support for the Hungarian GP, emphasizing the importance of this for drivers, technicians, and engineers seeking to compete at the highest level against F1 teams. This will also provide fans with a unique opportunity to enjoy the FIA FREC spectacle.
