Fabio Quartararo beat Marc Marquez by 0.033s to take MotoGP pole in Spanish GP, as Francesco Bagnaia was third.

Q1:

The first part in MotoGP qualifying in Spanish GP at Jerez saw Tech 3 KTM’s Maverick Vinales set early pace after his 1m36.310s lap ahead of Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi. Outside the Top 2 places, Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller slotted in third from Tech 3’s Enea Bastianini.

The factory KTM of Brad Binder was fifth, as Yamaha’s Alex Rins and Honda wildcard Aleix Espargaro did not venture out the first time around. The former had a crash in practice and had to visit the medical center to get clearance. He made his way into the garage with about six minutes remaining.

Espargaro, meanwhile, ran out of sequence in the gap. On the onset of second run, Aprilia’s Lorenzo Savadori had a major shunt to end his session. At the front, Vinales upped his pace to set a 1m36.284s lap to make it in Q2 on top along with Bezzecchi, who also improved to retain second.

Binder tried hard but only managed third to be 13thahead of Miller and Trackhouse Aprilia’s Ai Ogura. His teammate Raul Fernandez was 17th behind Honda’s Luca Marini, with Bastianini only 18th from Espargaro, Pramac’s Augusto Fernandez, LCR Honda’s Somkiat Chantara, Savadori and Rins – the latter managed to complete one timed lap.
