Maverick Vinales has shown a notable improvement in his performance during the MotoGP Grand Prix practice sessions in Malaysia, thanks to a reduction in pain in his injured shoulder. The Tech3 KTM rider has been struggling with the repercussions of an injury suffered at the 2025 German Grand Prix, which has forced him to miss several races and experience difficulties in his competition.
His resurgence began at the Japanese Grand Prix, but he made a significant leap on the first day in Sepang. Vinales managed to record a time that placed him among the top ten for the first time this season. This situation has been possible not only due to the track conditions but also because of the new pain management technique he has recently started.
After the training sessions, the 31-year-old rider explained that he received injections to alleviate his pain, which has allowed him to improve his performance. ‘The treatment has been effective, and when the pain decreases, my physical strength also increases,’ Vinales commented, who despite still feeling pain, has noticed a significant improvement.
Vinales assures that his goal is to reach the last races of the season in Portimao and Valencia without pain. ‘As the pain decreases, I will believe that I will return to the level I had before the injury,’ the rider added.
Despite having lost his spot on the MotoGP grid for the next season, he remains optimistic about being able to demonstrate his potential in the remaining races of this year. ‘If my physical condition continues to improve, we can think about an even better performance on the upcoming tracks. This bike only works if you ride it with strength,’ Vinales concluded.
