McLaren says the F1 team is unaffected for British GP after the positive COVID-19 test for Zak Brown, which forces him to miss the event.
McLaren informed about a positive COVID-19 test result for Brown ahead of this weekend’s British GP, which will force him to miss the F1 team’s home event. The positive result was found out during the outfit’s rigorous programme before the races.
The team noted of three positive cases which includes Brown, but all are not connected to each other and none affects the outfit’s programme for F1 British GP. The three are isolating as per the guidelines set out by the Government.
Brown was expected to feature in the FIA Press Conference on Friday, which could still happen via online means, but it is to be confirmed by the officials. The American, however, will speak to written media online, as per the schedule shared ahead of the weekend.
He was also to take part in the Historic car show during the weekend, driving a Lotus car. “McLaren Racing confirmed today that three team members, including CEO Zak Brown, tested positive for covid-19 during the team’s rigorous testing programme before the British Grand Prix,” said the statement. “Neither of our drivers are close contacts.
“All three cases are unconnected and now isolating in accordance with government guidelines. The team’s operations for the British Grand Prix are unaffected.” Brown is the first big name to have tested positive for COVID-19 in the 2021 F1 season.
There are positive cases every race weekend as shared by the FIA and F1, but those doesn’t seem to be big enough to affect the grand prix events. Despite the fan involvement and less strictness with the paddock, the cases has been on the lower end.
