Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is under scrutiny by its own F1 team and is likely to be suspended on grounds of media leaks.

Not before the dust has settled into Christian Horner’s matter after allegations and investigation against him, new investigation has surfaced, this time against Red Bull advisor Marko. The reports came through during the Saudi Arabian GP qualifying.

It is noted that Marko is involved in information leak regarding the Horner matter and that Red Bull is looking into the allegations of it. The Austrian is not directly part of the ‘Racing’ team, as he has been appointed by the main ‘GmbH’ company.

Marko hinted about his own suspension to media on Friday evening, as and Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzalff returned were in the paddock on Saturday. Amid the internal crisis involving Horner, Marko and even Adrian Newey, the chapter has taken a new route.

Max Verstappen has surprisingly spoken strongly on the matter while supporting Marko and seemingly linked his Red Bull F1 future to the future of the Austrian with the team. “Yeah, from my side, you know, I have a lot of respect for Helmut and, you know, what we have achieved together goes very far.,” he said.

“And also, of course, my loyalty to him is very big. And also, I’ve always expressed this to everyone within the team, everyone high up, that he’s an important part in my decision-making for all the time in the future as well within the team. So, yeah, it’s very important that he stays within the team, including, of course, everyone else, because, you know, it’s a whole team effort.

“And it’s very important that we keep the key people together, because I feel like if such an important pillar falls away, that’s also what I’ve said to the team, that is not good for my situation as well. So, yeah, for sure, for me, Helmut has to stay, for sure. You know, he has built this team together with Dietrich from day one, and he’s always been very loyal to the team, to everyone within the team, to make sure that everyone would keep their positions already from back in the day.

“And I think it’s also very important, of course, that you give the man a lot of respect for what he has done. And that comes back also to loyalty, you know, and integrity. So, yeah, for sure, it’s important that he stays part of the team also for me,” summed up Verstappen.

Marko, earlier told Austrian broadcaster ORF: “It’s difficult to judge, or let’s put it this way, ultimately, I’ll decide for myself what I do. The theoretical possibility always exists. It’s such a complex issue. Again, we want peace in the team. This world championship will be difficult enough with 24 races and we have to concentrate on that.”
