Marc Márquez, a rider for the Ducati team, has shared his perspective on this year’s MotoGP championship competition. Although he has once again become a serious title contender, he stated that he does not feel pressured and that winning a new championship would not have a significant impact on his personal life.
After a challenging start to the season, with physical limitations and two races lost due to surgery, Márquez has made a remarkable comeback, achieving victory in three of the last four races. This recovery has led him to climb to third place in the championship, just 18 points behind the leader, Jorge Martín.
With his rivals experiencing difficulties in consistency, many are betting on Márquez as the favorite to secure his tenth world title — one that would place him ahead of the legendary Valentino Rossi.
However, the 33-year-old rider emphasized that adding another title to his résumé would not substantially change his life, as he has already overcome critical moments before, such as his recovery after the injuries from Jerez 2020. Instead, he hopes that rivals like Marco Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura will have more at stake in their title hunt, as they have yet to win a premier class title.
‘Five riders within a margin of 24 points. We start from zero. 24 points are nothing,’ Márquez commented. ‘But it is true that we are five fighting for the championship, and we will try to be in the best shape until the end.’
Among the title contenders, only Márquez and Martín have had prior experiences battling for a championship, giving Márquez an advantage in this regard. He also acknowledges that he does not feel pressured, as his ambition remains intact regardless of what may happen in the championship.
‘I don’t feel the pressure because my ambition is the same. I will try to give my best, but another title or not will not change my future. They, on the other hand, can transform their lives if they win,’ Márquez concluded as he prepares for the next race in Silverstone.
