Kris Meeke, winner of five World Rally events, will return to competition in the European Rally Championship during the penultimate round of the series, the Ceredigion Rally, which will take place in Wales from September 4 to 6.
The Northern Irish driver will drive a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 in a rally that will mark his first appearance in the ERC since the Rally Poland in 2006, when he finished in tenth place alongside his co-driver Glenn Patterson in a Citroën C2 R2.
His inclusion in the competition has been made possible thanks to the support of some local companies collaborating with the rally. Meeke has expressed his gratitude, highlighting the help from his sponsors, especially KES and other local sponsors.
“I wanted to do the last two rounds of the ERC,” declared Meeke, who will have Noel O’Sullivan as his co-driver. “I am very grateful to everyone who has helped make this possible, it’s very exciting.”
Meeke is aware of the challenge of facing regular competitors like Teemu Suninen, but shows his enthusiasm for the competition. “I look forward to the challenge and I thank everyone who has made this possible. We’ll see what happens,” he added.
In addition, in recent years, he has been a regular in the national rally championship of Portugal, where he won the title in 2024 with a Hyundai i20 N Rally2. Last year, he finished second in the championship with a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, behind the winner Dani Sordo.
This year, Meeke has maintained a constant presence in the rally world, recently achieving victory at the Donegal International Rally in June.
