Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton feels honoured and priveleged that he will be able to share the track with Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi.

Always keen to try new experiences, Mercedes F1 driver Hamilton’s ears perked up at the proposal of a vehicle swap between him and Yamaha MotoGP champion Rossi. It’s an idea that has been mentioned before, as both the talents have Monster Energy backing.

While official details have not been confirmed by either party, Hamilton spoke on his excitement of the swap, which he feels that it would be an honor as he elaborates on his love for riding and its presence within his garage in F1.

“I am super excited by it [the swap],” said Hamilton to the media in Brazil. “I have been riding bikes for the last couple of years, I’ve only done three days on track, but they have been incredible and I am always watching MotoGP.

“It is great as there is a small group of us within the team that love riding and it is something I’ve always wanted to generally do since I was really young but it is really hardcore. Being on the same track at thee same time as Valentino is going to be very, very surreal and a real honour.

“He is such an icon in the sport and he has done so much for it, and it will be cool to see him in my car.” Hamilton, though, didn’t wish to compare his titles or stature with that to Rossi, when asked by the media if he feels being at the same level as the Italian.

Even though Hamilton has had few riding experience including a run with World Superbike riders at Jerez aboard a Yamaha R1, it will be the reigning F1 champion’s first time on a MotoGP bike, barring anything goes off from now until the date of the run.

It is expected to be after the Abu Dhabi GP in Europe, early December. Hamilton is keen for the MotoGP experience, having attended couple of events in 2019 via Petronas. On the other hand, it will be another run for Rossi in a F1 car after his famous test with Ferrari.
