The CEO of McLaren Racing, Zak Brown, has revealed that Gianpiero Lambiase, race engineer for Red Bull and collaborator of Max Verstappen, could make the jump to the Woking team sooner than expected, possibly starting from the 2027 season.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Brown expressed optimism regarding Lambiase’s potential move, noting that we might see him at McLaren in the near future. Last April, McLaren confirmed that Lambiase would take on the role of head of race office, leaving his position at Red Bull, where he worked alongside Verstappen.
The official statement from McLaren highlighted that Lambiase would report to the main team, Andrea Stella. This would imply a restructuring of the team’s responsibilities, as Stella currently manages these tasks alongside his role as team principal.
Lambiase’s integration is seen as a strategic move to reinforce McLaren’s technical talent in its aspiration to regain its place among the championship-winning teams. His experience, gained over more than ten years working alongside Verstappen, would provide essential added value to the team.
Brown also expressed his satisfaction with the advances made by the team this year, emphasizing that the staff has worked intensely to improve the initial situation of the 2026 season.
