The Ford v Ferrari or Le Mans ’66 won two Oscars – Academy Awards – from the four nominations it had as announced on Sunday evening.

Following a successful run in several awards ceremonies, including British Academy Film Awards – where it won in the Best Editing category from three nominations – Ford v Ferrari or Le Mans ’66 took two Oscars from the four nominations on Sunday evening.

It won the Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing awards, while also being nominated for Best Picture and Best Sound Mixing. The pair of Michael McCusker and Andrew Buckland were the recipients for film editing, while Donald Sylvester took it for sound.

The movie has been a hit, garnering about $223 million worldwide, for a budget of about $97.6 million. Outside the two Oscars and one BAFTA, the movie has won 18 awards in various categories in multiple ceremonies around the globe.

Ford v Ferrari or Le Mans ’66 ranked third in the 92nd Academy Awards’ winner list with two wins, which was same for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The leaders were Parasite with four awards – including Best Film and Best Director – and 1917 with three.

Ford v Ferrari or Le Mans ’66 is the first proper racing movie to have won an Oscar since April 1967, when John Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix – showcasing fate of four F1 drivers – took home three trophies for sound, film editing and best effects/sound effects.
