The MotoGP GP of Germany turned out to be a complicated day for Fabio Di Giannantonio, rider of the VR46 Racing Team, who fell on two occasions during the competition. Until this event, Di Giannantonio had maintained great consistency this season, finishing most races among the top six.
With a third position on the grid and only 13 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin, expectations were high. However, the day began unexpectedly with a fall during warm-up on lap 8. The Italian rider explained that he was looking for a better line, but a change in configuration caused an excess limit on the rear tire.
In the race, Di Giannantonio had a new fall on lap three, when he was in fifth. Regarding this, he expressed his perplexity: ‘The data shows that everything was the same as in the previous lap. It’s strange not to know what went wrong. It’s part of the game; sometimes you don’t know why it happens and it’s a combination of factors.’
The controversy also centered on his decision to switch to the rear aerodynamics of the Ducati 2026 just before the race, qualified by some experts as a risky choice. Di Giannantonio defended his decision, insisting that if the change had not worked, they could have returned to the previous configuration.
The team director, Pablo Nieto, downplayed the aerodynamic change, pointing out that the difference was minimal and that Di Giannantonio had preferred to do it differently. However, the day ended with the rider losing the fifth position in the championship.
