The DTM has officially presented its calendar for the 2027 season, which will not include a new race weekend abroad, an aspiration that had been managed by the series organizer, the ADAC. Instead, the competition will remain true to its eight usual venues, with the start scheduled for the weekend of April 23 to 25 in Austria, at the iconic Red Bull Ring.
One of the highlighted changes is that the weekend in Oschersleben, which had recently been the season opener, will return to an initial position in the calendar. This will take place from May 7 to 9, just two weeks after the opening in Spielberg. Thus, Oschersleben will become the second stop of the competition, while Zandvoort, in the Netherlands, will mark the beginning of the second half of the season.
The new date for Zandvoort, scheduled from August 6 to 8, has been made possible due to the withdrawal of Formula 1 from this circuit. This allows the DTM to enjoy more convenient summer dates, which were previously limited by the organizational needs of the Dutch Grand Prix.
Other notable dates on the calendar
The Lausitzring will continue to host the third event of the season from May 18 to 20, while the Norisring, one of the highlights of the competition, will traditionally be held during the first weekend of July (from the 2nd to the 4th). The dates for the Nurburgring and Sachsenring remain similar to the previous year, with a touch of expected decision in these events.
Conflicts with other series
Despite the efforts of the ADAC, there will be no new weekend abroad due to the difficulty of securing a track that attracts spectators and is viable for the stakeholders of the DTM. Furthermore, the high costs of a new event have weighed on the decision.
Regarding calendar clashes, the DTM will largely avoid other series, but there will be conflicts with the World Endurance Championship (WEC). For example, the DTM season opener in Spielberg will coincide with the second weekend of the WEC at Silverstone, which will take place from April 23 to 25. Other clashes will occur with the IMSA series and Formula E, complicating the participation of drivers in more than one competition.
