AJ Foyt Racing has announced the addition of Josh Pierson on a multi-year contract that will see him compete in the IndyCar Series starting in the 2027 season. Thus, the historic team welcomes a young American driver with a remarkable background and several records to his name.

Pierson will drive the vehicle numbered 4, while Dennis Hauger will be behind the wheel of the number 14 Chevrolet for Homes For Our Troops. This collaboration will mark the beginning of a new chapter with a new sponsor to be announced soon.

The driver has expressed his excitement for this new phase: ‘Racing in IndyCar has been my dream forever. All the variety of races I have done has prepared me for this incredible opportunity. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way,’ Pierson stated.

His career includes extensive experience, from local karting to international formula and sports car competitions. At just 16 years old, Pierson became the youngest driver to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is a qualified driver who has achieved several victories and podiums in championships such as the World Endurance Championship, the Asian Le Mans Series, IMSA, and Indy NXT.

‘I have been watching Josh over several seasons. Few drivers his age have the same level of experience. His maturity and work ethic are impressive,’ commented Larry Foyt, president of AJ Foyt Racing. ‘Over the last year, he has impressed us in various tests with IndyCar drivers, and we are excited to be part of his development as a driver.’

During the 2026 Indy NXT season, Pierson led more laps than any other driver and achieved two pole positions. He also set a new qualifying record at Milwaukee, surpassing his current teammate, Dennis Hauger.

Pierson’s new phase with AJ Foyt Racing coincides with the year that will mark the 50th anniversary of A.J. Foyt’s fourth victory in the Indianapolis 500.

‘Being part of AJ Foyt Racing, a team with such an incredible history, means a lot to me. I am excited about everything that Larry and the team are building for the future,’ Pierson added.
