Fernando Alonso talks about being a good fit at Aston Martin whose energy is very contagious, while adds on Alpine difference.

It is mot often that Alonso has kind and good words for the F1 teams he is competing for. Yes, there are negatives too as it is normal with everyone. But with Aston Martin, the Spaniard is seeing himself a good fit, even though it is slightly smaller than others.

Having raced for teams like McLaren, Ferrari and even Alpine, Alonso jumped to Aston Martin, who even being a manufacturer aren’t exactly running as one due to the Mercedes ties. And its base too has been smaller than the other outfits.

He sees Aston Martin’s energy as contagious and one where the team is just passionate to excel. They will celebrate the small wins but the yearn is for the big one still. “I think I had it in the past but the team is maybe new to this [regular podiums], couple of nice results with Force India or Racing Point but to be regularly on the podium fighting at the top level, I think is new for many people,” said Alonso.

“And I think they enjoy more than other teams and more than previous experience for me. This was contagious, this energy was very nice to witness. It has been a good fit. I think the team is very young, very motivated, ready to embrace the next chapter in the project. I think everybody is just all in on this project.

“I think after Lawrence arrived in the team and the ambitious project, I think everyone is just all in on this project. I’m happy when everybody is dedicated to one mission, dedicated to one mission, winning and focused on racing. I don’t know if it is the best or not in my career in terms of fit, and I remember Ferrari, me being Spanish and they are Italians, it was a very nice experience as well for me,” summed up Alonso.

When asked to compare or chalk out why he felt this at Aston Martin and not Alpine, Alonso added: “It’s probably different than Alpine for sure. I think this team is focused on winning and on racing for the next few years. This doesn’t mean that we don’t want to sell cars, and that will help the whole project. But yeah, first priority is to win in Formula 1 and then the rest of the things will just unfold naturally.”
