Spanish rider Carlos Falcon, aged 45-years, dies in hospital after his early Dakar 2024 crash as confirmed by TwinTrail Racing Team.

This Monday, January 15, Carles left us. The medical team has confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiorespiratory arrest at the time of the accident is irreversible. Carles was a smiling person, always active, who passionately enjoyed everything he did, especially motorcycles. He has left us doing something that was his dream, running the Dakar.

He was enjoying it, he was happy on the motorcycle. We must remember him for his smile and for the happiness he generated in everyone. Computer engineer by training. Motorcycle instructor and motorcycle travel guide by passion. There are many who have learned alongside him. He taught with patience, energy and happiness, he made everyone enjoy the motorcycle.

This is what he has left us and we will always keep with us, all of us who have been close to him, family, friends, colleagues and supporters. From the family and the team, we ask that the privacy of the farewell events that will take place in the coming days be maintained. Thanks for understanding.

Statement from Dakar: “It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Spanish rider Carles Falcon from his family. On the special on stage two from Al Henakiyah to Al Duwadimi, the rider suffered a heavy fall after 448 km. The medical teams who quickly arrived on the scene were able to assess the seriousness of his condition. He was airlifted to the hospital in Al Duwadimi, before being taken to hospital in Riyadh and then repatriated to Spain a few days later.

“Despite the best efforts of the doctors, the rider succumbed to his injuries. Carles Falcon, aged 45 years, was participating in the Dakar for the second time. He finished 68th in 2022 and took part in the unassisted bikers category, in which he finished in 16th place in the final general rankings. This year, he enrolled in the TwinTrail Racing Team. A native of Tarragona and a keen trial rider, he was a motorbike tour guide and an off-road instructor. The Dakar organisers and competitors offer their most sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
