Fermin Aldeguer, Gresini Racing rider, will have to undergo surgery on his right hand following a series of incidents during the Indonesian Grand Prix.

After winning his first race at this same circuit last year, the current weekend has been a real nightmare for the young Spaniard. Aldeguer suffered two crashes on Friday, which left him in an unfavorable position and forced to go through the initial qualifiers (Q1).

Despite making it to Q2, he fell again in that session, finishing with his bike in sixth position on the grid.

The Grand Prix did not start better for him, as, after a good start that took him to fourth place, he crashed on the second lap at turn 16, thus closing a very painful weekend.

After the race, it has been confirmed that Aldeguer has suffered a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand, which will require surgery.

Aldeguer will travel immediately to Barcelona to undergo the operation. The good news is that the 21-year-old rider has two weeks before his next competition, the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

This is not Aldeguer’s first setback of the season, as he had previously been limping from a femur fracture during a preseason testing accident, and had to miss three races after sustaining an additional injury in Assen.
