At a time of intense competition in the 2026 MotoGP season, Fabio Di Giannantonio has expressed his opinion regarding the dispute between Ducati and Aprilia. The VR46 rider believes that the quality of the riders outweighs the characteristics of the circuits in the title battle.
Despite the variations in vehicle performance, with Aprilia’s RS-GP excelling in fast corners and Ducati’s GP26 being more suitable for stopped circuits, Di Giannantonio argues that Marc Márquez’s performance, who has achieved five victories in the last seven Grands Prix, demonstrates that the tracks are not a decisive factor.
«I think the search for circuits that favor Ducati or Aprilia is more of a concern for the press,» comments Di Giannantonio, who states that there are exceptional riders in both teams and that the best work on the bike will determine who wins. According to him, Márquez is «silencing everyone» and the key is how the bike is worked on.
Throughout the first half of the season, Di Giannantonio had been Ducati’s best rider, maintaining a consistency that positioned him as a title contender until Márquez’s impressive return. However, he has not been able to reach the podium since his victory at the Catalonia Grand Prix in May, leaving him 51 points behind the championship leaders.
The Italian rider qualified fourth in Misano, but a poor start left him in tenth position from the get-go. He managed to climb to seventh place, but was over 20 seconds behind the winner, Márquez. Despite recent results, Di Giannantonio remains hopeful as he approaches the next Austrian Grand Prix.
«Even though our morale is not the best, we are fourth in the championship and we are doing a great job,» he states. «We will arrive in Austria in a good mood, because we know we can do well.»
