Max Defourny has been the fastest in the first practice session of Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, for the last round of the season The Belgian lead ahead Hubert and Sasahara.
The last round of Eurocup in Jerez because next year this venue will be in Estoril, started in a cold but quickly hot track which the 27 drivers of the field has to drive.
Some of this drivers raced last week in this track for the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps finale, and they had a great advantage because they finished on top15.
Who really take that advantage was Max Defourny who is a wild card driver this weekend. The ART Junior Team driver set a lap of 1:40.405, one thousandth of second behind Anthoine Hubert who won one of the two races last week, and maybe is the favorite for the 3 races of this weekend.
It was really beneficial race last week because a team who is usually down in the gird, Arta Engineering, put his drivers in top10. Not the same for Koiranen GP, who also raced last week but they are keeping the set up problems, finishing on 13th and 15th place.
Teams like Manor or Josef Kaufmann Racing struggled more than any. Kaufmann drivers finished on 18th and 26th and we remember you that they are leading the championship by equal points.
So, after this first session, ART Junior and Anthoine Hubert looks to be the guys to beat.
