Mercedes F1 driver Valtteri Bottas took part in Team INEOS cycling eRace as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen signs up for Supercars ESports event.

Bottas, who is now dating Australian cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, took part in his first cycling eRace event as part of Team INEOS, who has a partnership with Mercedes F1 team as well. It was an all-INEOS event with six teams in all and single participants.

Out of the six teams showcased, Bottas was not part of any, suggesting that he raced as an individual entrant. The race was livestreamed via GoZwift, but unfortunately the results only showed the Top 10 finishers, of which the Finn wasn’t part of.

Bottas is currently living with Cromwell in Finland as the world is at a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Finn hasn’t raced in the F1 Virtual GP like teammate Lewis Hamilton, with Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez filling up.

Here’s the livestream of the event, where Valtteri Bottas took part:

Elsewhere, Red Bull’s Verstappen – who is also not racing in F1 Virtual GP like Bottas – has signed up as a wildcard in Australian Supercars series’ ESports event, where he will represent Holden outfit in his Formula 1 livery and number alongside Shane van Gisbergen.

The event will take place this weekend, where they will compete in iRacing at Barcelona and Silverstone circuits. International fans will get to watch it live on Red Bull TV, while local Australian and Kiwi fans can view on television as well at 7pm – 9pm AEST.

“I’m looking forward to the race,” said Verstappen. “It’s going to be a challenge as it’s not a car I’ve driven a lot on the sim, but they are pretty cool to watch in real life. We always race with Supercars in Melbourne so it’s going to be interesting to see how I get on against all the regular drivers.

“I’ve tried the Supercar now a few times on iRacing and it’s a very tricky car to get right. I’m looking forward to racing alongside my mate Shane, or Pastor, as I call him – he’s a top shunter on the sim! (laughs) We race online a lot together so hopefully we can do well for Red Bull and it should be a bit of fun racing against the other V8 drivers as well.”
