Martinius Stenshorne has achieved his first victory in Formula 2 in a race marked by interruptions in Montreal, leading a one-two finish for Rodin Motorsport with Alex Dunne in second place.

Despite the wet track conditions, Stenshorne started from third position, behind Laurens van Hoepen and Nikola Tsolov. Tsolov took the initiative from the beginning, passing around the outside of the first corner, but van Hoepen spectacularly responded on the inside at the third turn.

After four laps, Tsolov renewed his pressure on van Hoepen, but his season came to a halt when he suffered a spectacular crash into the ‘Wall of Champions’ at the exit of the final corner. This triggered the first appearance of the safety car, which arrived too soon to force the drivers to make their mandatory stops.

Emmo Fittipaldi was one of the few who entered the pits at the restart on lap seven, but ended up crashing into the safety barriers on the exit. Most of the group opted to stop at the next opportunity, triggering a dramatic episode in the pit box, where John Bennett, who had started fourth, caused damage to Rafael Villagomez’s car.

Tsolov, who was maintaining first place, was forced to give way to Stenshorne after a failed attempt to overtake Mari Boya. The situation worsened for Tsolov as he received a hit from Kush Maini and ended up spinning in the final chicane.

Meanwhile, Rafael Camara was looking to advance on Villagomez, but his maneuver resulted in a touch that triggered a virtual safety car. Roman Bilinski, who had opted for a strategy with harder tires, took the lead but lost first place to Stenshorne on lap 19 after a mistake in the helicopter turn.

His teammate, Dino Beganovic, climbed to second place but had to retire due to a technical issue, bringing the race to a new safety car phase. Dunne, who had passed Gabriele Mini to position himself second, radioed Stenshorne suggesting they work together on the restart.

The restart occurred with six laps left to race but was soon interrupted again by an incident between Ritomo Miyata and Oliver Goethe at the tire exit. Ultimately, Stenshorne secured the victory, moving up to fourth in the championship standings, while Mini extended his lead in the overall classification.
