McLaren Racing has filed a Right of Review against the FIA decision to penalise Lando Norris in F1 US GP, with the hearing set for this weekend.

Four days after the end of F1 US GP, McLaren has officially filed Right of Review against the FIA stewards decision to penalise Norris for his move against Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Brit was handed a 5s time penalty which dropped him to fourth.

Considering the intense F1 title fight between the two, any chance of reversal of the decision will help McLaren and Norris. Post-race, both Norris and Andrea Stella hinted on no appeal against the penalty, but they have since changed their minds.

The hearing will take place at 14:30 local time in Mexico between the FP1 and FP2 sessions. McLaren will have to convince the stewards with ‘new evidence’ in order to take the case to next level. If there is no new evidence, they can dismiss the case.

In such cases, often, the cases are dismissed but considering the debate around the penalty and many not in favour of it, there maybe a chance. Even if it isn’t reversed, it could lead to changes in driving guidelines which can prevent such cases in future.
