Nick Cassidy completes Prema Powerteam line up for the 2016 FIA European Formula 3 championship.

The 21-year-old driver from New-Zealand, Japanese F3 champion in 2015, already raced in the European Formula 3 championship, making some cameo appearances through the years. 3rd in the 2014 Macau Grand Prix, he has already a strong experience in Formula 3 cars.

2016 will be his first year as a titular driver in European Formula 3. Last year, he raced with Prema Powerteam replacing Brandon Maisano who left the team during the meeting at Red Bull Ring. In six races at Portimão and Nürbürgring, he scored two podiums and helped Prema Powerteam to claim the team championship.

As busy as ever, Nick Cassidy will also race in the Super GT500 championship in Japan (whose meeting at Autopolis will clash with the F3 meeting at the Red Bull Ring). He comments:

I am really excited to be joining Prema Powerteam for 2016.

“Ever since my first introduction to the team at Portimão last year I have felt very welcome, and really enjoy the family atmosphere inside the team.

René Rosin, Prema Powerteam manager comments:

We could not be more satisfied for the arrival of Cassidy, a really experienced driver who already showed some outstanding driving skills throughout his career, especially behind the wheel of Formula 3 cars. When we had an open seat at the end of last season, I did not have a single doubt about having him in our team.”

Nick Cassidy is the last addition to the very experienced Prema Powerteam Formula 3 line-up alongside Lance Stroll, Maximilian Günther and rookie Ralf Aron.
