The opening Collective Test scheduled for the third round of the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 series was completed this morning at Spa-Francorchamps, as Teams and Drivers of the RPM Racing-promoted championship made their way on-track at the famous venue close to the Ardennes mountains. The quickest lap of the day so far belonged to Yu Kanamru (Teo Martin Motorsport) who lapped in 1:59.991 to give his weekend a positive start as already happened in the previous event in Budapest, Hungary.

Johnny Cecotto (RP Motorsport), who won Race 1 at the Hungaroring, ended up second just 0.032s away from the lead to top Matthieu Vaxiviere (SMP Racing) in third. The Fortec Motorsports rookie pairing of Swissman Louis Delétraz and Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi rounded out the top-5.

Yu Kanamaru
“It was the first time for me with the Formula V8 car in Spa-Francorchamps. In the beginning I was getting more comfortable with the car on the track which didn’t take me too much time. Then I could push. The car was ok with the balancing and the set-up as well so we put the new tyres and set P1”.
