Nico Rosberg won the comeback of the Mexican GP ahead of his teammate Hamilton, while his rival for the 2nd place in the championship Sebastian Vettel made several mistakes which left him out of the race. Valtteri Bottas completed the podium.

Rosberg was able to keep first position on the first lap this time. Vettel lost position with Kvyat and later on with Ricciardo, who made contact with him and caused him a puncture. Ricciardo continued without problems on 4th ahead of both Williams, but Massa was overtaken by Verstappen for 6th. Pérez, Sainz and Hulkenberg were on the top 10 for the first few laps. Meanwhile, Alonso had to retire the car due to a problem with the electric engine.

The nightmare continued for Ferrari as Vettel made a mistake and spun. Also, Kimi had to retire after he gave Bottas no space while Valtteri was trying to overtake him. Halfway through the race, when everybody had made their first pit stop, the top 10 drivers were Rosberg, Hamilton, Kvyat, Bottas, Massa, Ricciardo, Hülkenberg, Verstappen, Pérez and Sainz.

All positions were pretty stable until Vettel crashed in the same corner where he had previously spun. All drivers used the Safety Car period to change tyres except for Pérez, who decided to stay out. Top 10 was Rosberg, Hamilton, Kvyat, Bottas, Ricciardo, Massa, Hülkenberg, Pérez, Verstappen and Grosjean.

Hamilton wasn’t able to steal the win from a dominant Rosberg, while Bottas overtook Kvyat on the restart and that gave him the podium.
