Pirelli Motorsport has revealed the tyre choice of teams and drivers for F1 US GP (November 1-3) with Renault aggressive in otherwise spread out choice.
As known, Pirelli is bringing C2 (hard), C3 (medium) and C4 (soft) for the F1 US GP at Circuit of the Americas as Renault goes aggressive with soft tyre choice at 10 – the maximum among all – with rest having a rather spread out choice.
Renault is the sole team with 10 sets of soft as Daniel Ricciardo has opted for two sets of medium and one of hard, while Nico Hulkenberg has the opposite with two sets of hard and one of medium. Among the leading teams, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is on a different choice.
The Monegasque has opted for nine sets of the soft compound for US GP, which is same for Haas, Racing Point, Alfa Romeo Racing, Toro Rosso and Williams drivers. He will have three sets of medium and one of the hard compound to go with it.
Joining Leclerc with the same choice are Romain Grosjean, Kimi Raikkonen, Daniil Kvyat and Robert Kubica. At the time, Racing Point, Kevin Magnussen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Pierre Gasly and George Russell have gone for two each of medium and hard.
The final set for US GP includes teams and drivers with eight sets of soft compound, which includes Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, Mercedes, Red Bull Racing and McLaren. Vettel has three sets of medium and two of hard to go with his eight softs.
The German is being joined by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and the two McLaren drivers with the similar choice, while Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and the Red Bull drivers have gone for four sets of medium and just the one of hard.
As the rule states, the teams get 13 set of tyres for the whole US GP weekend, with one set of the softest compound to be kept by the Top 10 F1 drivers to use in Q3. After the completion of qualifying, the Top 10 drivers will have to return that set, while the other drivers can keep it for the race.
For the races, each driver has to keep one set each of the two harder compounds available for the weekend, while the rest 10 sets they are free to choose from the three available compounds for the particular driver.
