The session has started with Simona de Silvestro, who has had some problems and her lap has been poor. One of the main favorites has been the second driver on track, Tony Kanaan has not disappointed although it’s more difficult when you are the second driver to make the attempt. He has set a good reference time for all the others drivers. Dixon has been the next one, not a bad lap but not enough to be on top 6. Oriol Servia has surprised with a great lap, in that moment he was second behind Kanaan, but the other favorites have made their laps, first Will Power get the first place, but was overtook by Marco Andretti, who became new record holder, but not for long because Helio Castroneves made a fantastic lap, getting the first position and the new qualifying record of Iowa. Ryan Hunter-Reay has been the most negative surprise, with a poor lap time, he will start from almost last position at race 1 (even numbered positions). Ed Carpenter was on the bump and no one seemed to be able to get another place for the race 3, but James Hinchcliffe did it at the last second, getting the fifth place.

So, here we have the results, with drivers on green that will go direct to race 3 (that will give points to all drivers who finish it), orange drivers will go to race 1, and blue drivers will go to race 2. Race 1 will start at 6:45pm ET, 0:45 GMT+2, and 11:45pm UK Time (GMT+1):
