Suzuki’s Alex Rins was finally able to take the top step as he finished the quickest on Day 2 of Qatar MotoGP test ahead of Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales.

After Vinales had the upperhand on Day 1 over Rins, it was the Suzuki rider’s chance on Day 2 at Losail International Circuit to clock the quickest time of 1m54.593s with 47 laps while Vinales (1m54.650s) was only 0.057s apart with 52 laps.

Impressing on the second day was MotoGP rookie Fabio Quartararo abode the Petronas Yamaha SRT to finish third with his best time of 1m54.908s with 54 laps as Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci (1m54.953s) was fourth from Honda’s Marc Marquez (1m55.004s).

The Italian undertook 48 laps to the Spaniard’s 57. Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro shone well as well to be sixth with his best of 1m55.173s with 55 laps onboard as LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami (1m55.175s) in seventh with 47 laps.

The Top 10 was then rounded out by Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso (1m55.205s), LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow (1m55.247s) and KTM’s Pol Espargaro (1m55.255s) with the trio completing 53, 35 and 44 laps respectively.

While his teammate headed the standings, Suzuki’s Joan Mir (1m55.280s) was once again 11th with 48 laps ahead of Pramac Ducati’s Jack Miller (1m55.380s) and Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Franco Morbidelli (1m55.556s) with 44 and 50 laps respectively.

Avintia Ducati’s Tito Rabat (1m55.661s) was 14th with Pramac Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia (1m55.680s) in 15th from Aprilia’s Andrea Iannone (1m55.698s) and KTM’s Johann Zarco (1m55.716s) as they did 51, 49, 38 and 60 laps respectively.

Following his return on the first day of Qatar MotoGP test, Honda’s Jorge Lorenzo (1m55.742s) continued to rack up miles as he finished 18th with 44 laps in his kitty as Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi (1m55.795s) lined up 19th with 51 laps.

Avintia Ducati’s Karel Abraham (1m55.951s) was 20th as he led Tech 3 KTM’s Miguel Oliveira (1m56.274s) with Aprilia’s tester Bradley Smith (1m56.866s) was 22nd from Tech 3 KTM’s Hafizh Syahrin (1m56.983s) – the four doing 51, 51, 63 and 42 laps in all.
