Rookie driver, Gilles Magnus has taken a double pole position for the second round of Formula Renault NEC at Assen, Netherlands. R-ace GP driver beat local hero, Richard Verschoor in both qualifyings.

Intense day in Formula Renault Northern European Cup in the Gamma Racing Day’s event. Early this morning the first practices were completed. Red Bull Junior driver, Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport) was the quickest at his home soil with a lap time of 1:38.409.

He finished ahead of championship favorite, Gilles Magnus (R-ace GP) and Charles Milesi (R-ace GP).

Then in the second practice, MP Motorsport set a one-two with Red Bull Junior driver Neil Verhagen setting a lap-time of 1:35.197. He finished ahead of Jarno Opmeer and Giles Magnus.

But after a busy morning, the drivers fight for the pole positions this afternoon. In the first qualifying session, Belgian Giles Magnus set the fastest lap with a time of 1:35.564, he was one tenth quicker than Verschoor, and four faster than Verhagen.

Magnus completed a great day in the second qualifying setting the quickest lap of the weeked, 1:34.719, taking a double pole position.
