Charles Leclerc looked back his 2019 F1 Italian GP victory at Monza with Scuderia Ferrari as he revealed about an unusual taxi ride which followed.
F1 aired the 2019 Italian GP last weekend on their social media channels and to discuss about the grand prix, they did a live Instagram session with Ferrari’s Leclerc, who scored his first-ever win at the Italian outfit’s home ground after a fierce fight.
Speaking to Will Buxton, Leclerc opened up about the weekend at large, where the Monegasque talked about the pressure coming into the Italian GP weekend, first time as a Ferrari driver and also on the back of his maiden F1 win at Spa-Francorchamps.
It was also the weekend in Belgium where the motor racing community where in shock due to the loss of F2 racer Anthoine Hubert. Leclerc discussed how the Monza run panned out eventually where he did not have a great run in qualifying.
He also had both Mercedes drivers on his tail, first Valtteri Bottas and then Lewis Hamilton, whom he had to fend off to eventually secure the race victory. Post it, they talked about the atmosphere on the podium, from where he can see down the host of Ferrari fans.
Apart from this, Leclerc confirmed the unusual story around a taxi driver, who did not recognise him just after the grand prix. The Monegasque was out to celebrate where he took a cab to get to a restaurant and during the ride, they talked about the race.
The taxi driver heaped praise over the young gun that Ferrari had, without actually knowing that it was Leclerc sitting behind. Once the ride was over, the Monegasque relayed to him as to who he was, much to the shock of the driver after which he took photos.
