The ACO has re-affirmed that the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours race is on schedule for its June date but they add that the COVID-19 outbreak is being monitored.

With several events being cancelled/postponed or held indoors, the ACO has updated on the situation with the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours race which is scheduled to take place on June 13-14, the final race of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar.

The COVID-19 cases in France is increasing but with the race still three months away, the ACO seems confident that there will be no issues in staging the event. Additionally, they are monitoring the situation and keeping their options open as well for worst case.

A calendar alteration will happen if possible and if the Le Mans race is cancelled then the fans will get a refund. The ACO has released a statement with regards to the rumours being spread around the event being cancelled:

“For the moment, we have not been notified of any requirement to postpone or cancel any of our sporting events scheduled in the coming weeks. Our event calendar remains unchanged. We are confident that the 24 Hours of Le Mans will go ahead as planned on 13-14 June. Please note that our priority is to maintain our published schedule for 2020. However, should it be necessary to do so, we will reschedule events later in the year. In the event of a cancellation, tickets will be refunded.”

As things stand, MotoGP has Qatar GP cancelled while Thai GP postponed, which is same for F1 Chinese GP. Races in Australia, Bahrain and Vietnam seems on but fears continue as Japan’s Super Formula opener at Suzuka has been postponed as well.
