The ‘King of the Mountain’ John McGuinness will be at Brands Hatch during the DTM race weekend (11/12 August) to entertain crowds at on his spectacular Norton SG7. The 46-year-old won the Isle of Man TT, the world’s most famous and dangerous road race, an amazing 23 times.

“What an amazing spectacle,” says McGuiness, who returns to the track at Brands Hatch after a long injury-induced break. “It’ll be great to get the Norton SG7 around the famous track in front of all the DTM fans.” An accident while training for the North West 200 in May 2017 left the Englishman with four vertebra fractures and he had to pull out of the 2018 Isle of Man TT with just weeks to go.

Visitors to Brands Hatch will have the chance to get up close to McGuiness and his V4 Norton, and he’ll also be signing his autobiography on Sunday in the paddock. The Morecambe-born biker is looking forward to being part of the DTM event. His demonstration laps are scheduled for 14:50hrs BST on Saturday and 16:05hrs BST on Sunday.

“DTM is really full-on and there’s nothing like it. I’ll be looking out for some close racing on the Brands circuit. There are some big names involved and I’ll be looking out to see some truly world class driving talent,” he said.

The weekend’s support programme features the all-new Audi Sport Seyffarth R8 LMS Cup and the MINI Challenge, and there will be demonstration laps by historic Formula One cars – an Arrows FA13b raced by Michele Alboreto and Aguri Suzuki in the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons and a Dallara F191 driven by Emanuelle Pirro in 1991.
