HitechGP has announced the signing of GP3 Series race winner Leonardo Pulcini for the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Pulcini is the second driver to race for HitechGP in the 2019 F3 season as he joins Red Bull junior Juri Vips in the squad. The Italian stays in the F3 level for his fifth season after competing in Euroformula Open and GP3 since 2015.

He raced in EF Open for two seasons in 2015 and 2016, where he took the title in his second year along with the Spanish F3 championship. He moved to GP3 in 2017 with Arden Motorsport, where he finished only 14th.

He stayed in the series with Campos Racing in 2018 and left a solid mark as he finished fourth in the standings with two wins and three podiums. “I am very happy to announce that I’ll be racing for Hitech GP in the FIA Formula 3 this year,” said Pulcini.

“I have a lot of confidence in the team and I cannot wait to start the season! Given the past results, I’m sure that we have the potential to achieve great results together. I’ve seen the team working and I was impressed by the very professional approach and work method.

“That’s exactly what I need as the coming season will be crucial for me.” The young Italian racer is the 11th driver confirmed for the 2019 season. Team Principal, Oliver Oakes, added: “We are delighted for Pulcini to join us in our FIA F3 campaign this year.

“The professionalism and talent he has demonstrated last season in GP3 proves that he is a great fit for our team as we enter the new era of Formula 3 together. We look forward to the challenge of fighting for the FIA F3 title with him this year.”
