Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat hail team effort for AlphaTauri’s first-ever 100+ points haul in 2020 F1 season, the best for Faenza-based outfit.

In their journey from 2006 until 2020 – where they changed from Toro Rosso to AlphaTauri in 2020 – it is for the first time that the Faenza-based F1 outfit has amassed 100 points in their tally, beating the previous best of 85, scored in 2019.

The 107 they scored will go under their new identity AlphaTauri but with the license remaining with the Faenza registration, it can be counted as their best result overall. The seventh place in the standings, though, is one less than their best of sixth (in 2019).

The formidable and experienced pairing of Gasly and Kvyat did a fine job to score 107 points between them, where the former gathered 75 and latter scoring 32 – which included their second race win overall, first under their new identity of AlphaTauri.

Naturally, there was praise from Gasly and Kvyat for the team effort. It is also the result of better synergy with Red Bull as the two F1 outfits are now sharing as much possible under the regulations, making AlphaTauri as a sister brand, rather than a plain junior outfit.

“It’s been very successful year for us,” said Gasly to media including F1, Motorsport Network, Racefans.net, BBC and more. “Obviously, reaching I think the most points this team ever scored in their all F1 history, so it’s great to be part of this. At the same time, we have over 100 points and we only 7th in the team championship, which in the past would have, I think, some years given us like a 5th place or maybe even 4th I think.

“So, just shows how tight it is in the midfield, and we have many teams from 3rd in the team chairmanship till 7th, which are fighting all the weekends for a very strong positions, and I hope we can make step big enough next year to really make a step in that midfield, and be a bit more in the mix on top of it, and I think that will be the target for next year.

“But on 2020 I think we can be really happy of what we have achieved. The team has made huge progress on all areas. And, yeah, I mean I haven’t been in this team as long as Dany, but also since I joined 2017, so I can see a lot of progress and I’m really happy to be part of this project,” summed up Gasly, who will remain at AlphaTauri in 2021 too.

Even though, Kvyat, will not be a part of the team, the Russian has spent several F1 seasons in multiple stints. I would say, I’ve been in this team since 2014 on off a bit, this kind of relationship,” he said. “It’s incredible how much progress the guys have made because now this team, well, we’re really like on top of everything, technically, team wise everyone is super strong, very professional.

“There are no really weak areas, the team came a very long way, so I’m very proud of them. And of course, proud to be, playing part in the season where for the first time we scored more than 100 points, so it’s important, and of course everyone needs to keep pushing in this competitive world,” summed up Kvyat.
