FIA shares the details regarding changes at the circuit of F1 Canadian GP along with the DRS zones and the stewards.
With rain predicted for the F1 Canadian GP, there could be sessions disrupted by rain, even the grand prix. Last year saw qualifying in rain but the race in dry conditions. The track limits scene is similar to how it has been with white line defining it.
But the FIA Race Director Niels Wittich has added the rejoining at Turn 9 and Turn 14 specifically for the drivers. Here’s what the note states –
- In accordance with the provisions of Article 33.3, the white lines define the track edges. During Qualifying and the Race, each time a driver fails to negotiate with the track limits, this will result in that lap time being invalidated by the Stewards.
- Any driver who fails to negotiate with Turn 9 or Turn 14 and passes completely to the left of the orange apex kerb must keep completely to the left of the orange block/bollard on the exit of the corner and re-join the track at the far end of the asphalt run-off.
Looking at the circuit changes, the FIA notes about several with regards to realignment at several places including extensions and removal of orange kerbs. There is a change at Turn 1 run-off too with concrete installed to black the run-off. Here’s those –
- Extension of the concrete wall at the end of the pit wall by 106 m.
- Realignment and extension of the concrete wall in Turn 1 run-off.
- Enlargement of the run-off in Turn 3.
- Realignment of the walls in Turn 7.
- Pit entry width reduced to 4.5 m.
- Removal of the orange kerb at the entry of Turn 9 on LHS.
- Removal of the orange kerb at the entry and exit of Turn 14 on LHS.
In terms of the DRS zones, the detection zone for first is 15m after Turn 5 with the activation zone at 95m after Turn 7. The second and third’s detection zone is at 110m after Turn 9, with the second’s activation being 155m before Turn 12.
The third’s activation is 70m after Turn 14. As for the four FIA stewards, Garry Connelly will lead the team from Mathieu Remmerie, Enrique Bernoldi and Marcels Demers.
Esta tarde, la escapatoria de T1 estaba cerrada. Si se mantiene, supondrá un castigo aumentado para quien vaya largo en T1
