The FIA has deferred the decision regarding cost cap breach to until next week due to it being a long process of conclusion.
The Singapore GP weekend opened a whole new debate around the F1 cost cap breach when speculation about Red Bull and Aston Martin having crossed the set mark surfaced which likely slipped through the statements from the Alpine camp.
It dealt with the 2021 submissions made by the F1 teams and discussions around what could be the penalty started to take place where different teams had variety of opinions. Since it is a new regulation, it is a learning process for all involved.
Already Williams have been fined for minor trouble for their posting. But with the name of Red Bull coming up, it has started a whole new debate especially after Max Verstappen took the drivers’ title by slimmest of margins in a controversial manner.
Both Red Bull and Aston Martin were surprised by their names being said about and stated to wait for the final submission from the FIA end. It was due to come today (October 5), but the governing body has since delayed it until next week.
It will now be released on October 10 since it is a long and complex process. In a statement, the FIA also reiterated about the ongoing speculations regarding the teams involved and possible penalties, much like they did during the Singapore weekend.
“The FIA informs that the conclusion of the analysis of the 2021 financial submissions of the Formula 1 teams and the subsequent release of Certificates of Compliance to the Financial Regulations will not take place on Wednesday, 5 October,” read a statement.
“The analysis of financial submissions is a long and complex process that is ongoing and will be concluded to enable the release of the Certificates on Monday, 10 October. The Financial Regulations were agreed unanimously by all Competitors, who have worked positively and collaboratively with the FIA Cost Cap Administration throughout this first year under the Financial Regulations.
“As previously communicated, there has been significant and unsubstantiated speculation and conjecture in relation to this matter, and the FIA reiterates that until it is finalised, no further information will be provided. The FIA also reiterates that any suggestion that FIA personnel have disclosed sensitive information is equally baseless.”
