Sacha Fenestraz won the second race of Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup weekend at the Nürburgring in Germany. The Kaufmann driver has won in wet conditions. Rookies Ticktum and Ye complete the podium.

The race has started under the safety car due to rain. Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) was starting first when the green flag appeared on lap 4. The French-Argentine driver maintained the first position, behind them Max Defourny (R-ace GP) managed to overtake his teammate Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) while Neil Verhagen (MP Motorsport) went off track.

But soon the safety car returned to the track because of an accident in the first corner between Alexander Vartanyan (JD Motorsport) and Henrique Chaves (AVF) when they were fighting for ninth position.Max Defourny suffered a spun off.

With the safety car on track, Fenestraz was leading ahead of Dan Ticktum (Arden Motorsport) and Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing), followed by Shwartzman, Will Palmer (R-ace GP), Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing), Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing), Thomas Randle (AVF), Defourny and Alex Peroni (Fortec Motorsports).

On the eighth lap the safety car left the track. Ticktum attacked Fenestraz without success while Shwartzman passed Ye for third position. Aubry beat Palmer for fifth place and Defourny did the same with Randle for eighth place.

On last lap, Peroni lost the tenth position with Luis Leeds (Josef Kaufmann Racing) and Shwartzman made a mistake that made him drop to the eighth position.

Finally, second victory of the season for Sacha Fenestraz that allows him to advance to the second position in the driver’s championship standings. He has 6 points less than Shwartzman. Palmer drops to third place and is 10 points less from his teammate. Defourny is fourth with 67 points less.
