Bruno Famin says he will be spending as much time in Enstone and Viry to bring that mindset change at Alpine to take on bigger challenges.
For long Alpine has been noted as a marketing platform for the car manufacturer. People from outside state that the mindset inside the F1 team is not that of winning but being content with what they have and where they finish in the standings.
The trend has continued for far too long and team boss Famin wants to change that. He is spending the winter to change the mindset at Enstone and Viry to push it back to glory after recent slump and ouster of host of personnel.
“What we changed is the mindset of part of the team because really, after Monza, our pace was very bad,” said Famin. “We knew that Vegas would be difficult and we had a very good reaction from the team and we worked hard, especially on the low drag configuration, on the set-up of the car and this work has been very, very efficient.
“And more than the results, I’m happy with the attitude we had in the team and this is the first sign of the recovery of the team, we have a change of mindset. I think we can see it quite well on the track side, since the middle of the year we scored a bit more points than in the first part of the year, per race.
“And the change of mindset is really a good thing. We have people proposing things, there is a real momentum, which has been created to improve things. We’re better in the execution and now we have to bring now that the season is over after an exhausting end of the season, I will spend much more time in Enstone or in Viry to bring this change of culture there as well,” summed up Famin.
