Mercedes’ George Russell headed the second and final day of Bahrain F1 in-season test from Racing Point’s Sergio Perez after a late lap.

It was a much better day at Bahrain International Circuit with sun shining which allowed for the teams and drivers to complete good amount of laps they missed on Day 1 due to rain. Many of them did over 100 laps to fill in for what they missed on Tuesday.

It was Russell in the end to top the day with a late 1m29.029s (C5) lap to beat Racing Point’s Sergio Perez (1m29.095s, C5), who drove the car in the afternoon. Russell drove for Mercedes to complete the team’s quota of rookie driver running.

The Williams F1 driver did 89 laps with Perez completing 36. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (1m29.319s, C3) was third with 83 laps ahead of McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m29.765s, C3), who took over from Lando Norris after running for Pirelli in morning, with 21 laps.

Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat (1m29.911s) was fifth with the Russian running on unmarked 2020 compound in a test for Pirelli completing 111 laps, as Mick Schumacher (1m29.998s, C5) in the Alfa Romeo Racing car was sixth with 66 laps.

Toro Rosso’s Alexander Albon (1m30.037, C4) was seventh with 143 laps from Racing Point’s Stroll (1m30.049s, C5), who drove the RP19 in the morning session with 35 laps ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Dan Ticktum (1m30.891s, C4).

The British racer on his first official F1 outing did 110 laps as Haas’ Romain Grosjean (1m30.003s, C4) rounded the Top 10 after taking over the car in the afternoon from Pietro Fittipaldi. The Frenchman still managed to do 68 laps in all.

McLaren’s Fernando Alonso (1m31.006s) moved into 11th as he continued the Pirelli 2020 tyre test after taking over from Sainz with 69 laps as Fittipaldi (1m31.209s,C3) was 12th ahead of Norris (1m31.303s, C2), with 48 and 72 laps respectively.

Another newcomer for his first official F1 test, Jack Aitken (1m31.500s, C4) finished 14th for Renault with 103 laps as Williams’ Nicholas Latifi (1m32.198s, C4) was 15th with 100 laps. Sainz (1m32.269s) was classified 16th as well for his Pirelli tyre work.
