Circuit Zandvoort officials were surprised by youngsters burning tyres causing thick smoke in the area which could be seen from distant as well.

While Zandvoort is not hosting the F1 Dutch GP in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic, the circuit is preparing itself to stage other races having completed most of the renovation work they were undertaking for the grand prix to return.

The incident took place early evening as people started putting photos on Twitter of thick smoke blowing near the circuit. Fire fighters rushed to the scene and got it under control but the smoke went high up the sky which could be seen from distant as well.

As per NH Nieuws, the officials are after a group of youngsters who burned the stack of tyres. The photos suggest that it likely was a stack to be used as barriers at the circuit. No one was injured but the officials requested people to keep their windows closed due to harmful smoke.

“The police are following the description of the possible perpetrators after the youngsters,” a spokesperson of Circuit Zandvoort was quoted as. The area seems to be south of the circuit, which is said to be a Parking Lot C for the fans visiting.
