Alex Albon has completed a month of brand promotion for Williams F1 in South Africa, an event marking the first official visit of an active driver from the British team to the country since Alain Prost’s victory at the South African Grand Prix in 1993.

During July, a demonstration car with the Williams FW48 livery has toured shopping centers in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg. Albon’s presence on July 27 closed this tour.

The British driver of Thai descent expressed his satisfaction with the welcome: ‘South Africa has lived up to expectations; the fans here are really passionate.’ He also commented on the encounters with fans and local creators, thanking Super Group, Betway, and Jackpot City for their support in making this initiative possible.

The tour was carried out jointly with two Super Group brands, Betway and Jackpot City. Super Group CEO Neal Menashe highlighted that this collaboration has represented a fantastic opportunity to connect one of the world’s most iconic sports with the passion of South African fans. Menashe added that the objective has been to bring the excitement of Formula 1 beyond the tracks and into local communities.

This trip took place following a complicated Hungarian Grand Prix for Albon, who finished in 17th position, while his teammate Carlos Sainz finished in 18th. Now, Albon goes on summer vacation occupying the 16th position in the drivers’ championship with five points, and Williams is ninth in the constructors’ standings with 11 points.

The Formula 1 season will resume with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, scheduled from August 21 to 23, where a new sprint race will take place.
