Williams F1 hires David Worner and Jonathan Carter in design team

ROKiT Williams Racing has hired David Worner and Jonathan Carter in design team, while promoted Adam Carter as chief engineer ahead of the 2020 F1 season.

With the changes continuing within the team, Williams has roped in two new people in their design team ahead of the 2020 F1 season. Worner has been named as the Chief Designer, while Carter will the Deputy Chief Designer and Head of Design.

The joining date of the two is not mentioned as Worner comes in from Red Bull Racing/AlphaTauri, having started his F1 work from 1997 onward. He was part of the Arrows team, after which he move to Jaguar Racing in 2003.

He stayed with the team when it changed to Red Bull and has been with them ever since, while being promoted to various roles. At the same time, Carter started his motor racing career in 1979 with Reynard Racing Cars, while also working for Arrows.

He moved to McLaren in 2002 and changed to Renault in 2015, from where he now joined Williams. Outside the two, Adam has been appointed to the position of Chief Engineer, where he will be responsible for activities in engineering side and vehicle programmes.

Upon the announcement, Claire Williams, said: “Dave and Jonathan bring enormous experience, knowledge and skills to the Williams team, and we are delighted that they are joining us in the near future.

“They will strengthen our design capabilities and work closely with Adam Carter, our Chief Engineer, and the other senior members of the Engineering team on the design and development of the next generation of Williams F1 cars.”
