The 1997 F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve will make his return in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia for the second time this weekend.
Villeneuve, who is racing full-time in NASCAR Euro Series this year, made a guest outing in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia in Round 1, where he secured a Top 5 finish in Race in a #911 Porsche GT3 car.
The Canadian will make his return this weekend at Gellerason Karlskoga for his second outing but this time the series will have another eminent guest driver Carl Philips, the Prince of Sweden.
Philips will drive the #911 car with Villeneuve’s number yet to be revealed. “We are proud of the drivers who choose to drive our guest cars in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia,” said Porsche Sweden’s Raine Wermelin.
The upcoming competition weekend will be very special in all respects. We welcome Prince Carl Philips’ decision to ride with us at the Gellerasen Arena, Wermelin continues.
“The fact that we can also announce that Jacques Villeneuve is coming back and participating for the second time in this year’s championship makes this year’s Canon Race a landmark in the history of the series.”
As mentioned before, Villeneuve is racing in the NASCAR Euro Series for Go Fas Racing, with three podiums in five rounds so far to be ninth in the standings with 212 points.
