Pirelli Motorsport kick started its two-day tyre test at Circuit Paul Ricard where Ferrari completed its one-day run while Red Bull Racing will continue on.
This is the third test of the six planned by Pirelli in the 2019 F1 season as they prepare the compounds for the 2020 season. They already ran in Bahrain with McLaren and Toro Rosso and in Barcelona with Ferrari and Racing Point in April and May.
However, those two runs took place alongside the official F1 in-season test and were for the slick compounds. The ongoing two-day test at Paul Ricard circuit in France is for the wet and intermediate compounds – the only test where they will run the wet compound.
The first day saw both Ferrari and Red Bull in action with the Italian manufacturer fielding its regular drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc for the run, with the former completing 64 laps in the morning session while the latter doing 47 in the afternoon.
As known, Ferrari only agreed to run for just the one day, while Red Bull committed for both the days at Paul Ricard. This is the last time for Ferrari to run for Pirelli in 2019 until the post-season test at Yas Marina Circuit with Red Bull to run again in July.
For Red Bull, it was Pierre Gasly doing the work at his home circuit with the Frenchman completing 108 in all to make it a total of 219 laps between the two F1 teams and the three drivers. Max Verstappen will take over from Gasly on Wednesday.
