Free practice

Pierre Gasly started well his season by achieving the best time in the first free practice session in the circuit of Montmelo, Spain.

As soon as the green light went, the session turned into a battle between Gasly and his former teammate Alex Lynn. Williams developpement driver was the first to set the fastest time before focusing on long runs. Therefore, Gasly could beat his time and take the lead of the session. Markelov tried to get close to the duo Gasly-Lynn but stayed behind Gasly for more than three tenths.

No incident was to report during this session, all the drivers stayed focused on the main goal : not crashing the car.

Gasly ended the session in the lead, 0.104 ahead of Lynn, then Markelov, Nato and Sirotkin.
