Toprak Razgatlioglu has acknowledged that he is going through a difficult moment after his MotoGP season ended prematurely due to shoulder surgery. The Turkish rider suffered a serious dislocation in an accident during FP2 of the Indonesian Grand Prix, which forced him to withdraw from the competition.
After the accident, Razgatlioglu tried to keep competing, but the intense pain led him to withdraw from the Grand Prix in Mandalika. His absence has been felt in the recent Australian Grand Prix, and he will also miss the final races of the season, including the important event scheduled in Valencia on December 1, where the new regulations for the 2027 season will be introduced.
Previously, the Pramac team announced that the rider needed to undergo surgery to ensure a complete recovery and be at 100% for the first preseason test in Sepang on January 31. For this reason, Razgatlioglu has shared post-operative images from his hospital bed in Milan.
In his message, the rider expressed: ‘Sometimes unexpected things happen. I am going through a difficult moment because, for the first time in my sports career, I have had to end a season before it’s over. Watching the races on television is a strange feeling. I had the surgery to come back stronger, and I have already started training. I hope to be back on the bike as soon as possible.’
Razgatlioglu is a three-time Superbike world champion (2021, 2024, and 2025) and made his debut in MotoGP this year, when expectations were high. However, his experience has not been as he expected, as the performance of Yamaha has not allowed him to showcase his full potential.
Looking ahead to the next season, Razgatlioglu will continue with the Pramac team, under contract with Yamaha until 2028, with an exit clause at the end of the next season.
