Toprak Razgatlioglu, from Pramac Racing, will miss the rest of the 2026 MotoGP season, as announced by his team. This news represents a tough blow for both the Turkish rider and the team, as Razgatlioglu has had a slower and more difficult adaptation to the championship than expected.
In a post on social media, the Pramac team informed that Razgatlioglu will not participate at Phillip Island or in the rest of the season. The former world champion in Superbikes expressed his disappointment: ‘I am extremely disappointed not to be able to participate in the Australian Grand Prix. Phillip Island is one of my favorite circuits and a place where I have experienced very special moments in my Superbikes career. I was really looking forward to racing here with the MotoGP bike, which makes this situation even harder to accept.’
The rider suffered a fall during FP2 at Mandalika, where he dislocated his right shoulder, which the doctors reset at the box. Despite participating in the qualifying, which took place shortly after on Saturday, he had to withdraw from the Sunday race due to intense pain. After undergoing tests, it seemed that he could avoid surgery, but this option has been ruled out.
In his words: ‘After undergoing additional medical evaluations following the fall in Mandalika, it has become clear that my shoulder injury is more serious than we initially thought. Therefore, I will undergo surgery in the coming days to ensure the best chances of a full recovery and be able to return at 100%. It has not been an easy decision, but after consulting with the doctors and those closest to me, we are convinced that this is the right step for my future.’
Yamaha relied on Razgatlioglu’s hiring due to his extensive experience with Pirelli tires in SBK and the transition that MotoGP will make with these tires. However, this injury will prevent the Turkish rider from participating in the decisive phase of the development of MotoGP 2027 by the Japanese manufacturer.
The next Australian Grand Prix will take place with only one rider from Pramac, the local Jack Miller.
