Ollie Bearman has shared his experiences during his first season in Formula 1 with the Haas team. The young British driver has highlighted how he had to make a significant leap in both his performance and his role within the team, finishing the season with three points more than his teammate, Esteban Ocon, and finishing 13th in the standings.
In a recent video published by the Haas F1 Team, Bearman reflects on his adaptation to the top tier of motorsport and how the transition from Formula 2 to F1 has been a considerable learning experience. “It was a decisive year for me. I think it’s probably the year with the most lessons I will ever learn, as it’s my first time in F1 and I won’t live an experience like this again,” he stated.
Bearman explained that, while in the lower categories the focus was speed, in F1 the development of the car is closely related to driver feedback. “It’s a role I hadn’t been aware of before. I had to work hard to take on this responsibility, and it took time to understand my position within the team,” he added.
One of the highlights of his season was after the Dutch Grand Prix, where he managed to fight from the pit lane to sixth place, with a chain of five consecutive scoring races. In the Mexican Grand Prix, he achieved a fourth place, the best result for a driver from the team led by Ayao Komatsu.
Looking ahead to 2026, Bearman acknowledges that he still has much to learn, especially with the regulatory changes that mark the season. “This is my first experience with a regulatory change, while my competitors have already lived through several. This represents a new opportunity to learn,” he commented.
Although it is not an immediate goal, Bearman is ambitious about becoming world champion. “My goal in life is to become world champion. I am building the foundations to one day be in a position to achieve that,” he concluded.
Currently, after four races in the 2026 season, Bearman is in eighth place in the drivers’ standings, with 17 points, while his teammate is in sixteenth with only one point.
