Goodbye to the great day of the Dakar. The rally is without the “Super Belén” to cancel the ninth stage between Salta and Chilecito
“The road is broken and we don’t know where we are going to sleep”. These were the words of Nani Roma on his twitter account last night. And is that on the road to the link of yesterday’s stage, there was an avalanche (the largest in 40 years) leaving the caravan of the Dakar totally isolated.
The Dakar used today to regroup the participants in Chilecito and to offer assistance to the affected population in Volcán. So the ASO has put all its resources and aerial means for the occasion.
This terrible event has left the Dakar without one of their iconic stages with the output groups, the dunes of Fiambalá, and that 98% of the special was on the outside track. According to the organization claimed to be the greatest challenge at the level of navigation for the participants.
Tomorrow will start the tenth stage from Chilecito to San Juan, with Sam Sunderland leader in motorcycles, Sergey Karyakin in quads, Sebastien Loeb in cars, Leandro Torres of UTV and Dmitry Sotnikov in trucks.
