Tatiana Calderón will be the new test driver of Alfa Romero Sauber team for 2018. The Colombian adds a new challenge in her sports career after her confirmation just a few days ago of her participation, for the third consecutive year, in the GP3 series. This was announced by the F1 team, which amounts Tatiana from development driver to test driver of the team.
His role in the team will be to perform in the simulator and training sessions with both engineers and Grand Prix weekends. So much of his work will be done in Hinwill, home of Alfa Romeo Sauber but we can also be able to see her at the wheel of the car.
The driver of 24 years, began his sports career with only 9 in his native country. Tatiana has achieved podiums in categories such as the British F3, the Euroformula Open or in the World Series Formula V8. This 2018 will combine his new position in Sauber with his seat in GP3, where he will try to improve his eighteenth position in the general that she obtained last season.
This is what Tatiana Calderón said after the announcement: “I am very pleased to confirm my role as Test Driver for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in the 2018 season. This collaboration will build upon the experience that I have gained as Development Driver with the team over the past year, and I look forward to continuing on this positive path together. I have been able to substantially expand and develop my skills as a race driver, and I am convinced that I will be doing so throughout this year. I would like to thank the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team for this marvelous opportunity, which would not have been possible without the long-term support that I am receiving from Escuderia Telmex. I look forward to this season, and will give my all to demonstrate my capabilities in both GP3 and Formula 1.”
Also Frédéric Vasseur, Principal Team of Alfa Romeo Sauber, has left his words for Tatiana: “We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Tatiana Calderón as our Test Driver. Tatiana is a very hard-working person, who has impressed the team with her focus and dedication. She has made good progress as a driver, developing both her mental and physical capacities continuously over the past few years. We look forward to having Tatiana on board for our first chapter as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.”
