Stoffel Vandoorne (ART GP) got the victory in front of his crowd in Spa-Francorchamps. Arthur Pic (Campos Racing) and Artem Markelov (RUSSIAN TIME) completed the podium. The race was red flagged on lap 9 following Daniel De Jong’s huge crash, but the driver is alright.
Stoffel Vandoorne kept the lead of the race after the first corner, although he lost it to Sirotkin for a little bit after a slow start. However, there were several accidents. Matsushita and Rowland crashed against each other, but the scary moment came after De Jong had a huge crash against the barriers after he made contact with Gasly. The race was red flagged while the barriers were being repaired.
Vandoorne had pitted right before the Safety Car, so he was 8th on the restart. Rossi led the way ahead of Evans and Sirotkin. Matsushita made contact again, this time with Yelloly, and had to retire with another broken front wing.
Vandoorne regained some positions on track and he was back on the lead after his rivals pitted. Rossi was 9th after his pit stop and got up to 5th position, but lost it on the last corner in a desperate move by Evans.
Finally, Vandoorne won his home GP ahead of Pic and Markelov, who resisted the pressure from Julián Leal until the end. Evans, Rossi, Berthon, King, Sirotkin and Stockinger completed the Top 10. Jordan King will start from reverse pole position tomorrow.
